Lina Röschel ist seit 2021 wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin in der Forschungsgruppe Governance der Ozeane am RIFS. Ihre Forschungsschwerpunkte liegen an der Schnittstelle von Ozean- und Klimagovernance mit besonderem Fokus auf die Governance mariner Kohlenstoffentnahme (marine Carbon Dioxide Removal, mCDR) und marinen Geoengineerings. Seit 2025 promoviert sie im Rahmen des Transdisciplinary PhD Programme des RIFS an der Carl von Ossietzky Universität Oldenburg zum Thema „Towards Equitable Governance of Marine Carbon Dioxide Removal“. Ihre Forschung verbindet dabei internationale Governance-Analysen mit transdisziplinären Methoden. Darüber hinaus arbeitet sie zu Blue-Carbon-Ökosystemen und meeresbasierten Lösungen beim Klimaschutz. Vor ihrer Tätigkeit am RIFS arbeitete Lina Röschel als wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin am Ecologic Institut in Berlin mit Schwerpunkt europäische Umwelt- und Naturschutzpolitik. Weitere Stationen führten sie an das Leibniz-Zentrum für Agrarlandschaftsforschung (ZALF), das NewClimate Institute sowie zu den Vereinten Nationen (UN DESA). Sie studierte Physische Geographie von Mensch-Umwelt-Systemen an der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin und absolvierte ein Auslandssemester an der New York University.
