Cristian Passarello joined the Ocean Governance research group in January 2023 as a Research Associate. He is supporting two Horizon Europe research projects on policy coherence and multi-level ocean governance in an effort to enable progress towards the EU Green Deal for the European seas.

Prior to joining RIFS, Cristian worked as Project Manager at the Renewables Grid Initiative in Berlin to facilitate the development of offshore wind energy development in Europe and as a Science Officer at Future Earth in Paris working on projects related to transdisciplinary research and the Sustainable Development Goals.

Cristian holds a MSc in Environment & Resource Management from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and has co-authored several publications on Marine Spatial Planning, ocean governance, and climate science.
