Headline: Launch of the Standardised Guidelines for Life Cycle and Techno-Economic Assessment of CO2 Utilisation Technologies

Location: EIT House (4th floor), 7 rue Guimard, 1040 – Brussels, Belgium

Innovative CO2 utilisation technologies have shown great potential in reducing environmental impacts and creating economic opportunities. Standardised life-cycle assessment (LCA) and techno-economic assessment (TEA) guidelines are crucial for a comprehensive and transparent comparison between different technologies.

Such guidelines for LCA and TEA have been developed by a consortium of partners from TU Berlin, RWTH Aachen, University of Sheffield and IASS Potsdam, initiated and commissioned by The Global CO2 Initiative and EIT Climate-KIC. The guidelines aim at enabling a comprehensive and transparent comparison between different technologies, reducing ambiguity in assessment results and avoiding pitfalls, thus accelerating funding decisions and promoting further technology development.

The guidelines and associated gaps and challenges were discussed and further developed within two expert workshops and in-depths reviews. Additionally, worked examples in different technology fields were carried out to illustrate the application of the guidelines.

To disseminate the guidelines, the consortium and funding partners cordially invite you to the introductory event in Brussels, on October 8th 2018. The guidelines and worked examples will be presented by the authors and discussed with a panel of experts. Questions and remarks from the audience are welcome and will be addressed during the event.

To attend the event, please register under the following link by Friday, September 21th 2018.
