Overline: Workshop
Headline: Carbon Footprint Policy Accelerator: International equity and collaboration

Carbon footprint policies such as border carbon adjustments (BCAs), the envisaged Global Agreement on Sustainable Steel and Aluminum Production (GSA) or regulatory maximum thresholds for lifecycle carbon emissions for final products have the potential to remove major hurdles to greater climate policy ambition and to create cross-border incentives for emissions reductions. While border carbon adjustments have received a lot of attention, the GSA and regulatory maximum thresholds for lifecycle carbon emissions for final products are relatively underexamined. This one-day workshop aims to systematically compare the differences between the three policy types in terms of their implications for international equity, collaboration, and conflict.
