Adrian Martinez is a Climate Protection fellow of Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. During his stay at IASS from April 2018 until February 2019, he will investigate about how Public Participation (PP) and Human Rights (HR) are intertwined in the Paris Agreement (PA) Framework to guarantee its transparency, justice and effectiveness. He will focus on exploring how these issues have been developed in the governance process at UNFCCC and how is this reflected in environmental policy and law in Costa Rica.
Adrian has a MA. on Environment, Development and Peace from the United Nations Mandated University for Peace and has a Licentiate and a Bachelor's degree from the University of Costa Rica. He is an active advocate on public participation and climate change awareness and is the Director of the NGO La Ruta del Clima, which develops advocacy work in Central America. He has participated in various events as speaker or guest lecturer and is a constant writer raising awareness on climate change related issues. As a consultant he has participated in various projects related to climate change, waste management and environmental policy-law.
