Headline: IASS Methodology Workshop, with Silvio Funtowicz and Bruna de Marchi

Silvio Funtowicz (Center for the Study of the Humanities, University of Bergen, Norway) and Bruna de Marchi (Center for the Study of the Humanities, University of Bergen, Norway) will give an input at this workshop. Mr Funtowicz will speak on "The emergence and current relevance of Post Normal Science" and the input of Mrs De Marchi has the title "Public participation in risk governance is fair. What else? ".

Bruna De Marchi is sociologist and presently a guest researcher at the Center for the Study of the Sciences and Humanities (SVT – Senter for vitenskapsteori) in the University of Bergen, Norway. She has broad research interests, including the social dimensions of environmental change, human systems’ response to disasters, risk perception, communication and governance, public participation in health, environment and disaster policies. She has been principal investigator in many international research projects and she has served in numerous committees.  She has been a consultant to governmental and international agencies and private companies. She has held courses at several Universities in Europe, the US, Latin-American and Australia.

Silvio O. Funtowicz  is a philosopher of science active in the field of science and technology studies. He created the NUSAP, notational system for characterising uncertainty and quality in quantitative expressions, and together with Jerome R. Ravetz he introduced the concept of post-normal science. Until April 2019 he was professor at the University of Bergen (Norway) at the Centre for the Study of the Sciences and the Humanities (SVT) and works now as a visiting scholar there.
