Paul Schlichting has been working as a student research assistant in the “Democratic Governance and Action” research group at RIFS since July 2026. He is pursuing a Master’s degree in Political Science at the Otto Suhr Institute of Political Science at Freie Universität Berlin. His academic interests focus on political theory and the history of political thought in the context of socio-ecological challenges, as well as on energy policy. Prior to joining RIFS, he supported research projects on political participation and societal acceptance at the nexus Institute. In his Bachelor’s thesis, he examined Rousseau’s political theory and its relevance to contemporary approaches to sustainability.
