Dr. Jeremy Fackenthal
Senior Fellow
Jeremy Fackenthal is a researcher and filmmaker based in San Diego, CA. After finishing a PhD in philosophy of religion, Jeremy spent four years as an adjunct professor before turning to nonprofit work and freelance video work. In 2017 Jeremy directed a short documentary as a part of a Yale University grant examining spoken word art and community transformation among youth in South Boston. Around the same time Jeremy joined the staff of the Institute for Ecological Civilization. Over the last few years Jeremy has been able to work on projects ranging from short films, local economy initiatives, and conservation economies. In addition to these, client work has taken Jeremy to Panama, Mexico, Malaysia, South Africa, Hungary, and Ukraine to film documentary-style promotional content for nonprofits and relief agencies. Jeremy won second place in a grant competition as an Emerging Artist in 2024 for the What Did You Drag Me Into? documentary film project by the OUT at the Movies International Film Festival in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
