Anne Chahine joined the Arctic Governance Group in July 2022 as a research associate. She is a practice-based researcher with an interest in multimodal and collaborative approaches to knowledge-making, decolonizing research methods, co-creation, and visual anthropology.
Following her studies in Media Design and Film at Cologne University of Applied Sciences (BA), she completed a Master of Arts in Visual and Media Anthropology at the Freie Universität Berlin. In 2022, Anne Chahine received her PhD from the Anthropology Department at Aarhus University in Denmark, while being a fellow at the research network Participatory Memory Practices (POEM), funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme.
In her dissertation, Anne Chahine offers a reflection on the particularities of executing a research project with young Kalaallit (Greenlandic) adults in their twenties and early thirties in Kalaallit Nunaat and Denmark, research sites marked by contemporary colonial dependencies, structures, and domination. She uses multimodality and collaboration as overall frames to think with and to (co-)create knowledge.
