Dynamic Facilitation
Rosa Zubizarreta-Ada is a scholar-practitioner with a background in organization development and group facilitation. Her commitment is to growing the awareness of group facilitation as a key element for shaping co-creative futures by bringing out the best in groups. She emphasizes the role of the facilitator as someone who hears and considers every perspective shared in a group discussion and creates a psychologically safe environment during the group session. Rosa has enjoyed fellowships at the Harvard Kennedy School’s Ash Center for Governance and Democratic Innovation and at the Research Institute for Sustainability in Potsdam, Germany. Author of “From Conflict to Creative Collaboration: A User’s Guide to Dynamic Facilitation,” Rosa teaches this particular approach to collaborative sense-making internationally. Informed by a wealth of other group processes, including action research, deep democracy, Future Search, and Heart IQ, Rosa grounds her listening work in decades of personal practice. In her research, she continues to focus on facilitators as reflective practitioners with valuable narratives that can benefit us all. In this conversation, we explore the technique of Dynamic Facilitation in detail since this could be a breakthrough addition to the UX researcher’s repertoire of group facilitation techniques.
