Die Bedeutung der Demokratie für das Gute Leben für Alle

This master's thesis examines how democracy can contribute to realising a Good Life for All (GLFA). Whilst both liberal and republican paradigms engage with democracy and the good life, political theory so far lacks (1) a systematically developed concept of the GLFA as well as (2) an explicit examination of the role of democracy for the latter. To address this gap, this thesis (1.) proposes a systematic, multidimensional and integrative understanding of the GLFA and (2.) examines different conceptions of democracy for their normative potential in advancing a GLFA. The analysis highlights the close relationship between democracy and a GLFA, for instance through collective deliberation processes and the consideration of diverse social perspectives. In conclusion, the author claims that the GLFA should be understood as a normative point of reference for a strong democracy.
