Headline: Die Ozeane im Kontext der 2030-Agenda

With Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 14, the conservation and sustainable use of the ocean and its resources was put on a central place in the global sustainability agenda. But the complexity of ocean issues and the transboundary character of the human-ocean system challenge the implementation of the ocean goal. A fragmented ocean governance system is confronted with requirements such as cross-sectoral and cross-boundary cooperation. More coherent implementation strategies, transparent review systems and support for regional approaches together with investments in ocean research and ocean literacy are needed to achieve SDG 14 and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
