Tobias Rausch

The joint project with Tobias Rausch aims to investigate avoidance narratives with which social actors react to complexity. Individuals and social groups have to cope with increasing complexity in the face of polycrises. In everyday life, however, these are often avoided by narrative reinterpretation of the situations. The project investigates the use of these narratives by involving actors of defined target groups in a laboratory-like situation in the shape of a game in which increasing complexity makes the interdependencies of one's own decisions with those of other actors as well as with non-linear and recursive factors irrefutable. Questionnaires and focus group interviews are used to determine the extent to which the confrontation with complexity affirms, irritates, shifts or leaves these narratives untouched and whether patterns can be identified from those reactions.
