Sibusisiwe Khuzwayo joined RIFS in 2025 as a German Chancellor Fellow supported by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. Her research focuses on the technoeconomics of clean energy transitions, particularly the decarbonisation of industrial processes in emerging economies. She is interested in how green technologies such as green ammonia can support low-carbon industrialisation while aligning with broader climate and development policy goals. Her work bridges engineering analysis with policy-oriented thinking. Prior to joining RIFS, Sibusisiwe worked in South Africa's industrial sector, where she was involved in process optimisation, sustainability initiatives, and capital project delivery. Her work included improving plant performance, reducing energy and water consumption, and supporting the implementation of long-term engineering solutions in high-pressure production environments.
