Marieke Marken works as a research associate for the “VeloCityAdapt” project at RIFS since February 2026. The project investigates how urban digital twins can support and simplify municipal planning and participation processes in climate adaptation. The focus of the project at RIFS is on governance analysis, participation and transformation research, and the implementation of interactive collaboration formats. Marieke Marken studied Environmental Sciences at Leuphana University Lüneburg and Integrated Natural Resource Management at Humboldt University Berlin, focusing on political and institutional conditions for (urban) transformation. In her research and consulting projects, she gained experience in the areas of socio-ecological justice, urban transformation, and climate adaptation and policy.
