Since October 2025, Lorena Vega Garcia has been working as a Research Associate in the Urban Air Quality, Mobility, and Health (AQMH) research group at RIFS, where she was working as a student assistant since July 2024.

Lorena holds a Bachelor of Engineering from the Polytechnic School of Engineering at the University of Oviedo, Spain, where she specialised in industrial analysis with a focus on analytical chemistry and instrumentation. She also holds a Master’s degree in Climate, Earth, Water, and Sustainability (CLEWS) from the University of Potsdam. Her master’s thesis integrated her research at RIFS with her previous experience at GIZ in policy development.

Before joining RIFS, she worked as a research assistant in environmental and materials engineering at institutions including the Military University of Munich and OCAS NV (Belgium).
