Jannik Backes joined the institute as an advisor in the Science Management department at RIFS in August 2025.
He studied geosciences at the University of Bremen and completed his master's degree in geoecology at the University of Potsdam in the summer of 2025, specializing in natural hazards and hydrology. In parallel, he completed further training in water risk analysis. Prior to this, he worked as a student assistant at RIFS for several years.
