Dr. Janani Venkatraman Jagatha
Research Associate
Janani Venkatraman Jagatha holds a PhD in Geography from Humboldt Universität zu Berlin, where she focused on the influence of topography and urban morphology on the local scale distribution of particulate matter. She earned her Master's degree at the University of Stuttgart with a focus on air quality control.
Since May 2025, she has been working as a research associate at RIFS in the Air Quality, Mobility and Health (AQMH) working group. Her research explores urban air pollution, its links to urban development and traffic policies, and its effects on human health. She contributes to the project Healthy Neighborhoods and the Effects of Kiezblocks on Ecological Sustainability and Air Quality, which examines how neighborhood-level interventions can promote cleaner and healthier urban living.
