Headline: Public Health, Risk Perception, and Risk Communication. Unconventional Shale Gas in the United States and the European Union

The chapter addresses perspectives and societal appetite for risks associated with unconventional oil and gas development on public health. It further examines the public’s perception of risks surrounding the industry, both in the United States and in Europe. The authors relate recent regulatory decisions to both these issues: evidence for risk and perception of risk.
