The IASS at the Climate Change Conference in Egypt
COP27 in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt from 6 to 18 November 2022 will see the international community come together to agree on further action towards achieving the climate goals agreed under the Paris Agreement. IASS researchers will attend and participate in the COP27 with various contributions relating to the core issues and the consequences of the conference outcomes.
Co-Creative Reflection and Dialogue Space (CCRDS)
The IASS will be hosting its Co-Creative Reflection and Dialogue Space (CCRDS) at the COP for the third time. This space for facilitated informal conversation was developed with the aim of enhancing the culture of communication at the conference and fostering dialogue and mutual learning. This year most sessions will have a thematic focus on the role of trust and fear at the COP. Partners are also invited to co-create science dialogues at the space. We would be happy to put you in touch with our participating researchers.

It is abundantly clear that communicating the facts of climate change is not enough to set climate action in motion. Climate communication needs to go beyond informing about climate change and move towards mobilizing and supporting climate action. In our side event we present a variety of communication approaches that aim to shorten the distance between science and policy, and between knowledge and action. We will then engage in an active discussion on how to make climate communication efforts more effective and action-oriented.
