27th Arctic Dialogue
Twice a year, the German Arctic Office at the Alfred Wegener Institute (AWI), in cooperation with a host institution or ministry, organizes an “Arctic Dialogue” – a meeting, that brings together representatives of German Federal Ministries, research institutes, and NGOs engaged in Arctic research. The aim of this meeting series is to foster open dialogue among participants, focused around a key topic of particular relevance to the respective host.
On April 14, the 27th iteration of the Arctic Dialogue will take place at RIFS and explore how to rethink knowledge production and funding structures to ensure social justice and respectful research relations in Arctic research. The decolonial approach taken for this meeting is reflected in the panels that will revolve around the following questions:
- How to prevent knowledge extraction and approach data governance in the Arctic?
- How to generate structural change and develop new approaches in funding?
Speakers come from the Sámiráđđi – Saami Council, AWI, RIFS, Zukunft - Umwelt - Gestaltung [ZUG] gGmbH, and the University of Ottawa.
