Headline: GREEN TALENTS NETWORKING CONFERENCE 2019

Every year, the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) hosts the prestigious ”Green Talents – International Forum for High Potentials in Sustainable Development” to promote the international exchange of innovative green ideas. The award, under the patronage of Minister Anja Karliczek, honours young researchers each year.

This year, a high-ranking jury of expert scientists selected 25 up-and-coming researchers from among 837 applicants and 97 countries, which marks a new high score of applications received. Furthermore and for the first time ever, winners from Cameroon, Lebanon, Morocco and Papua New Guinea are among the chosen awardees.

The 2019 awardees are now on their two-week Science Forum from 14-26 October 2019, leading them to different hotspots of sustainability science in Germany. The tour starts in western Germany taking the young researchers to the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence in Saarbrücken, the United Nations University Institute for Environment and Human Security in Bonn, RWTH Aachen University, and the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy. Furthermore, Germanwatch, a non-governmental  organisation based in Bonn, will be visited as well as the company Covestro, who will be an exhibitor at K 2019, a significant trade fair for plastics and rubber in Düsseldorf.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary, the tour ends this year with a major Networking Conference in Berlin, where the Green Talents award will be handed out to the awardees during a festive ceremony on 24 October 2019 and further distinguished German experts from the field of sustainability research, selected Green Talents alumni and the awardees are brought together.

The IASS-Potsdam will be represented on October 24th with an information stand at the Market Place and a workshop on "Connecting Science and Society" on October 25th at the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
